||This is one of our most popular annual hikes! Come join the fun. Area D-2, Trip 1, pp. 239-241, 3 mile roundtrip hike, with an elevation gain/loss of 450', takes about 1 1/2 hrs to hike, plus break times. First, we'll meet at the Visitor's Center at about 11 am, and tour the facility. Check our maps for directions to the area. While there, pick up a parking permit (~$5) to park at the trail head. After checking out the Visitor's Center, drive over to the trailhead parking area about 1-2 miles away. We'll meet there around noon to start the hike. Bring a bathing suit if you'ed like to wade into the water when we get to our destination. (There's no guarantee how much water, if any, will be there. However, there usually are some families also hiking in the area, so going nude isn't an option for this hike.) Don't forget sunscreen and plenty of water. It could get into the 80's-90's out there.
Click Hike Photos and check out the photo collection from one of our previous hikes there on April 21, 2002. A picture is worth a thousand words...... (The two photos below were taken by Jim Ruboyianes.)
