Background info.: Click HERE for a map to print out and carry with you on the hike. Direction of loop hike is clockwise. See Jerry Schad's book "Afoot and Afield in San Diego County",  2012, pp. 253-254 for details.

Hike Description: Distance: 8 mile R/T Loop hike, Hiking Time: 4.5 hrs., Elevation Gain/Loss: 1000'/1000', Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous, Trail Use: Dogs Allowed.

This hike includes a variety of environments:  shady-woodland with vanilla/pineapple-scented Jeffery Pines, spice-scented chaparral, and sage-dotted meadow. In addition fresh mountain air, shrub-covered back country and jagged peaks, there's also a stunning bird's-eye view of the desert to the east, from the rim of the Laguna Mountain escarpment along the Pacific Crest Trail.

Misc. info:  If you're looking for a good workout and up for a longer-than-usual hike, meet with our hike leader Sleve L. at 10:15 AM, May 11th, at the Penny Pines trailhead turnoff. Be sure to bring lots of water, snacks and sunscreen!

Backpacker.com has a great webpage covering the Noble Canyon-Indian Creek-Pine Mountain Loop. There's even a TrimbleOutdoors.com Embedded Topo Map of the hike, with linked photos and comments along the route at various waypoints. But keep in mind that that particular loop hike extends out towards the west, beyond our proposed route, adding extra miles and elevation gains that we don't plan to do. However, it's still worth checking out the embedded map on their site!
