Directions:

Background info.:

Annie's Canyon trail, once prone to vandalism in past decades, was recently restored. It's likely this was a spiritual place for many people with its sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and lagoon at 200' above sea level.

Hike Description:

The 1/4 mile loop part of the hike is moderate to strenuous, and the entire hike is about 1.63 miles roundtrip. It will take only about 1 hr., with an elevation gain/loss of 569', -564'. The max slope is 53% and average slope is 13%. Parts of the trail through the limestone canyon are extremely narrow, steep at times and not for the claustrophobic or out-of-shape individual. There is a more moderate trip thru the canyon to the view point, going clockwise from the fork in the trail. The more difficult slot canyon trip, which we'll do, is counter-clockwise from the signed fork in the trail and is not recommended for dogs. For more details on the hike, see the description at hikingsdcounty.com.

Post-Hike lunch at "Fidel's Little Mexico" Restaurant & Cantina in Solana Beach!!

We're planning a post-hike lunch on the shady patio at Fidel's... "Mexican food and cocktails... a 50-year tradition! It's like dining in the courtyard of a Mexican rancho." It's located at 749 Genevieve Street, Solana Beach, CA, only 4 minutes away from our hike. Here's your chance to give the hike leader a hard time, while under the influence of a margarita... and discuss upcoming ideas for fun hikes! Come join the fun!
